Well, I just got the Darkman trilogy DVD. Sorry guys, but there are no special features. I guess we'll still have to hope for a special edition release or something. On the plus side the first movie has 5.1 surround sound and the set only cost me fifteen dollars. Not bad.

That sucks that there's no special features Does Darkman III at least have scene selection though? The single disc release didn't have SS. Hopefully we'll get an SE eventually. Maybe if the set sells well enough it'll convince Universal to produce an SE. And for 2010 there's a good chance we might get an SE.

Actually, it doesn't seem like any of the movies have scene selection. The first two movies have menus. You can pick play, language selection, or watch the trailers for the first two. The third one doesn't seem to have a menu, or even a trailer. I'm not sure that it even has subtitles.
I should mention though that the picture and sound quality for the first movie is indeed better. I noticed things that I never did before in the movie. Also it might just be my imagination but I think that there might be several extra seconds of footage in the first film that wasn't on the previous DVD release. Nothing substantial, just a few extra seconds here and there. Then again, my mind could be playing tricks on me.

The seperate DVD release of DM3 doesn't have a menu either, you pop in the disc and the movie automatically plays.
It's good to know the quality for the first movie at least is better. The seperate DVD's transfer is noticably dated and lacking definition.

I'm dissapointed with how this set turned out to be. It could, no, should have been so much more. I'll still buy it though, as I've not seen Darkman 3 before.
Well, I'll still have hope for Special edition of the original someday. At least an edition with Commentary by Raimi would be nice.

I'm also very disappointed that the original movie didn't at least get anything. For 2010 maybe we'll get a 20th Anniversary Special Edition.

It would be awesome if there was a SE for Darkman's 20th anniversary but I doubt there will be, although I could and hopefully am wrong.

If the new DVD set and the HD-DVD sell well enough maybe Universal will finally make a 20th Anniversary SE DVD for the first film at least.

I've heard about it but haven't seen it in stores anywhere. The first movie could definitely use a new HD transfer, the initial DVD has a dated transfer.

Checked it out at Amazon. It exists, and has the same poster as the trilogy collection.

When I get an HD-DVD player I might get it. The basic DVD release has a dated transfer and an HD transfer for Darkman would be great.

So far, there isn't a Darkman Blu-ray but that could change somewhere down the road.
