A remake by Sam wouldn't be that bad of an idea. Its certainly more likely than a sequel.

I know this is a bit of an old topic, but hey, we gotta get this board moving one way or another. So I figured I'd throw the question out:
In the possiblity of a remake (even though I've heard no such talk beyond wishful thinking) who do you guys think would be best to play the previous characters? Maybe there would be a few alterations to the plot and the previous villains/co-characters would be axed. But assuming it's the same story and same roles (making a remake a bit useless beyond the need for updated effects and perhaps a fresh interest in the public eye for Darkman), who?
The only fear would be that they crap it up to make it more fashionable for the latest in teen-horror and pathetically gothic atmosphere with very little style and depth or originality. But I think Darkman is "cult-classic" enough with it's fanbase that the people in charge would be careful in sticking to the best aspects of the original and not just looking to squeeze the box office out of a few bucks.
So yeah, an updated Darkman could be interesting. We certainly need more good action movies (or in this case, it has a strong possibility of becoming a scifi drama with a little violence to spice it up).

I honestly wouldn't mind a Darkman remake as long as it's done right and not overblown, and of course made with respect to the original movie and not catering to mainstream audiences. I wish Darkman would make a comeback really badly and a remake may be the way to do it.
On the subject of actors, I think at all costs Larry Drake has to be Durant, he's absolutely irreplacable as Durant and I can't picture anybody else in the role.

With Sam bringing life to a new Shadow franchise, I think it's doubtful another Darkman film will happen now.
Edit: Actually, maybe there could be another film. But not with Sam's involvement.

Sam might possibly produce it but directing is definitely very slim.

Still, hopefully with The Shadow, he'll borrow some of his past from Darkman. A subtle mixture of the two would go great! That is, if he gets enough say in the overall production.

If there was a Darkman remake, I think Bruce Campbell should play Peyton Westlake as originally intended.
